Course Description
This course is designed to teach students the fundamental principles of U.S. Government. An introduction to the national, state, and local government will be explored through the study of the framework, constitutional basis, processes, institutions, and policies of United States government and politics. Throughout the course, students will apply knowledge of the U.S. Constitution, how the U.S. system of government works and how the rule of law and the value of liberty and equality have an impact on individual, local, state and national decisions. In this course students will compare and contrast the governmental system of the United States with others throughout the World and will evaluate the provisions of the Constitution as it applies to powers of government, individual rights and responsibilities and policy development. This is a communication intensive course in which students will effectively analyze information and organize their thoughts to express their opinion's or their arguments in well supported, clear and concise, written or oral responses.
